As they say, "Of all of the, Pride is our greatest sin.", I think.
Then again, that might have just been a line in a song by Gloria Estefan, in spanish. I sometimes fear my mind's already on the decline >.<
In any case, I'd forgotten one of the most important things-
It's good to hear you're okay, and very few people, that matter at least, would ever think less of you for your decision.
Had you been a super hero, or at least, a trained person for situations like that, they might have.
But you kept your cool and played your cards right, coming out of it safe with little loss.
Should a worse scenario ever occur in the future, you've got some experience for it. And in the future, you might not be the only person involved. Knowing you can keep a cool head and mitigate losses could save a lot of trouble for your friends or family.

Second thought that was a little risky when you just could have given them 80+ dollars and not risked injury because when some one pulls a knife on you that is not to be taken lightly. But i still think that what you did was a good discision (sp?).

Thank you, I like the philosophy you have that the people who think any less of me are the ones who obviously don't matter. And yeah i'm really happy to just be alive. Turns out the same day in around the same location, some people were shot and killed.

You were very fortunate and reacted wisely. Maybe you'll be able to help someone else some day after they have been robbed, passing along advice and comfort.

Shit happens. It really doesnt matter where you are or when.
I got robbed at gunpoint as well, luckily for me he was only interested in my mobile phone and didnt think of asking for money. So I feel your pain, and relief that you came out of that one alive and in one piece.

I know I know, it's just scary to know that you came so close to being killed. But the guy with the knife I know didn't want to do it. He wasn't aggressive or anything, his buddy did all of the cursing so I ignored him and looked at the guy with the knife in the eyes. He looked at me and kept folding the knife in half way and said "just show me anything and i'll leave you alone, I promise, I won't hurt you or anything" I said "yeah right" his voice turned into an upset tone "I won't, trust me" and he didn't. I'm just really confused is all.

I know how you feel, i was robed once, (i live in nyc too =\ and im asian >_>), but all they took was $2 and a student metro haha. I still up to this point laugh at those 3 guys (black) acting all tough, when i took out 2 of those guys and the 3rd just picked up what droped out of my pocket, rofl.

Yeah it was Black guys who robbed me but I don't hate Black people, nor do I hate those 2 guys. I'm not the aggressive type but then again i'm not a pushover so i'm more defensive then anything. Did they have a weapon on you, Katalyst? and were they alot older, taller, etc. then you? (That was my situation)

Pie wants to get license for a concealed weapon, for those sorts of occasions. If the peoples were a lot bigger than me, I wouldn't try anything, if they were my size and it was a knife, I'd probably try something. Then again I'm going to have to go with the best option probably and just hope I'm never in a situation like that. I think I'd end up dead.

cooperating wont always save you though, thats why theres always the crowbar beside my seat in the truck, and a box knife in my pocket, although i will pretend to cooperate while i am getting it.

I really don't believe in violence and neither do alot of successful people(in case anyone tries to slip in the whole "you kill or be killed" thing) who don't fight. I didn't have a weapon when this happend and I wouldn't even consider it now. I'm just having a little trouble coping with what happend.

I would like to carry around a concealed weapon as well. Any smartass with a knife messes with me they get a bullet to the head.
If you don't like weapons, I would suggest taking a martial arts class. It will help the feeling of powerlessness (is that a word?) and if you have a good teacher, they are generally against useless violence (it's more about self-defense)

If they were going to kill me regardless if I cooperated, then I would react. However, the best thing to do is to cooperate. Just give them what they want. Your life is more valuable than anything you could own on earth.

That's my problem, I've got more pride than anything else. I can admit when I'm wrong, but I'll be damned if I get robbed by a two-bit drug addict who's borrowing his mother's knife. I'd probably try something out of pride, and I'd probably die trying depending on the situation. So I'll just go with the whole concealed weapon sort of thing.
